The answers below provide the answers to the five most frequently asked questions for Vlingo for BlackBerry. If none of these addresses your specific problem, you can search our extensive KnowledgeBase by pointing your desktop browser to www.vlingo.com/support. Using your desktop browser, you will also be able to submit a question to our Support team if you are unable to find a solution in our Knowledgebase.

To set up Vlingo on your phone.

1. Click the Vlingo icon in your application list.
2. A Setup process will guide you to set any required options and speak a simple phrase.

After the setup process is complete.

1. If your phone does not allow applications to start automatically when the phone is powered on, click the Vlingo icon to start the application.
2. Press the activation key and speak.
1. On touch screen devices, the activation key is typically a 'soft' key that's part of the phone's screen itself. You would have selected it when you went through the Setup.
2. On phones without touch screens, the activation key will be defined during Setup.

Speaking to Vlingo

Vlingo does not force you to conform to a rigid set of keyword-based commands. It's designed to let you speak naturally. For example, if you're speaking an email you can say.

• "Email Jen"
• "Send email to Jen Smith, subject dinner, message where would you like to have dinner tonight?"

Try different wordings and see what works best for you.

If you purchased Vlingo Plus less than 12 months ago, we can help you move your Vlingo license to your new BlackBerry.

Your Vlingo Plus license will automatically move from your existing BlackBerry to a new BlackBerry device under the following conditions:

1. The new BlackBerry device must have the same phone number as the old one.
2. The transfer must take place within one year of the last purchase.

Registration keys are not used as part of this process.

How do I transfer Vlingo Plus to my new phone?

1. Download Vlingo to your new device. You can do this either from the retailer from whom you purchased (do NOT pay again- you can simply download the free version) or directly from Vlingo by pointing your built-in BlackBerry browser to www.vlingo.com.
2. Click on the Vlingo icon to complete the Setup process.
3. If your new device fits within the policy described above, Vlingo Plus will be automatically activated for you.

To test whether your Plus features have reactivated, try sending an email. Press the sidekey and say "Vlingo Send Email". If this takes you to the Vlingo email screen, then your Plus features are now active.

What if Vlingo Plus doesn't activate on my new phone?

If Vlingo Plus does not automatically activate on your new BlackBerry and you purchased within the last year, we can help if you click "Contact Support" and send us the following information:

1. The order confirmation email (receipt) that you received from the retailer from whom you purchased Vlingo Plus. Please paste the order confirmation into the "Details" on the Contact Support page. If you can't find this, we may be able to find your purchase information if you provide us with the email address you used for the purchase.
2. Your current BlackBerry's PIN. You can find this by clicking "Options" on your BlackBerry home screen, and then choosing status. Please type the PIN carefully.

Why am I seeing upgrade notices for Vlingo Everywhere?

If you purchased Vlingo Plus Version 3, you may download and use the latest version of Vlingo and still access all of the premium features that you paid for with version 3 (Email and SMS messaging). You do not need to upgrade to have access to the SMS and email features you paid for in version 3. If you are seeing frequent upgrade notices, it is likely that you need to speak the word Vlingo in front of your commands as described below.

Version 4 introduces a major new premium feature called "Vlingo Everywhere" which allows you to speak to insert text virtually anywhere you can type on your BlackBerry, including into any built-in or third-party application. With the addition of the Vlingo Everywhere feature, you now need to speak the word "Vlingo" as the first word in your command in order to issue a Vlingo command from within another application . For example, if you used to say "open calendar", you will now need to say "Vlingo open calendar". If you just say "open calendar", Vlingo thinks that you want to paste the words "open calendar" into the current application. When you speak from your phone's home screen or from any Vlingo screen, you- don't have to add the word "Vlingo".

As an existing Vlingo Plus 3 customer, you are eligible for a promotional discount if you purchase directly from within Vlingo on your phone. Simply click on "Get Vlingo Everywhere" from within Vlingo on your device and follow the instructions and you will get the upgrade price.

Here are the languages and dialects implemented on each of our platforms:

Vlingo for BlackBerry is currently implemented for English only. It is particularly optimized for speaking styles native to the United States and the United Kingdom.

Vlingo for Nokia: English UK and English US; German (DE), Spanish (ES), and Italian (IT).

Vlingo for iPhone: English, optimized for speaking styles native to North America.

Vlingo for Windows Mobile: English, optimized for speaking styles native to North America.

As with all Vlingo technology, language recognition improves naturally and automatically over time. The more you and others use Vlingo, the better the recognition gets.

Several additional languages and regional dialects are in development and will be added over time. As we support additional languages and accents, we will announce it on our Web site.

Vlingo uses highly advanced speech recognition technology to deliver the best accuracy possible. As with humans, it sometimes misunderstands what you say. Here we provide information about how you can get the best results from Vlingo's speech recognition.

• Begin speaking shortly after you see the 'Listening' dialog. If you speak too early, you may see an error message asking you to wait slightly longer before speaking.
• Be sure to pronounce words clearly but naturally.
• Do not pause between each word.
• Begin speaking shortly after initiating recording.
• Avoid long periods of silence since this can cause Vlingo to pick up background noise as intended speech.
